In earlier American rural life, communities raised barns because many hands were required. These events occured in a social framework with a good deal of interdependence. Members of rural communities often shared family bonds going back generations. They traded with each other, worshipped with each other and celebrated with each other. Barn raisings were an integral part of life and socializing.

In our modern American life, communities don't mean nearly as much as they did back then. It is our family's goal to bring a sense of community back to our lives and those lives that touch ours.

Wonder

Our Wednesday Wonder for today doesn't really get more wondrous. What I am talking about is the addition to our family that will be arriving in late November. That's right, I mean a baby. Our baby. The caboose to the crazy train that we are on. Here is our little tiny blueberry for your viewing pleasure. Oh, and now you know why the postings have been scattered and why I haven't been feeling so hot lately. Give me a couple of weeks and things will be regular again.

  3. I don't know how she could tell. I kept asking her what exactly we were looking at. For the most part it was boring stuff. The baby was a little easier to discern once the tech finally held still on the image because of the little heartbeat(!) fluttering in the center of it all.

  4. Ahhh...seeing a heartbeat would make that little speck more clearly a munchkin. :)

  6. Congratulations, Amanda! I'm so happy for you. If you want to be early, Nov 6 is Stella's birthday. If you go late (I know you don't want to!), Sandis is Dec 5. No matter when the little caboose arrives, it will be wonderful :)
